Ronald Cathcart, MD is one of the original HIV/AIDS physicians serving South Florida at Broward County Health Department.
Timothy Poirier, MD was the go-to MD in Brevard County during the early years of HIV/AIDS. He served as Medical Director of Unconditional Love, Inc. and the supervising physician for Joyce Goode until his death in December 2003.

Ryan White was an American teenager from Kokomo, Indiana, who became a national poster child for HIV/AIDS in the United States after his school barred him from attending classes following a diagnosis of AIDS. As a hemophiliac, Ryan became infected with HIV from a contaminated factor VIII blood treatment and was given six months to live.
