SOAR stands for SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery. It’s a national program designed to help people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness access the disability income benefits (SSI/SSDI) they may be eligible for.
Who Does SOAR Help?
Homeless
Are homeless or at risk of losing housing
Mental Illness
Live with a serious mental illness or medical impairment
Traditional Disability
Struggle with the traditional disability application process
How Does It Work?
Through SOAR, trained case workers guide applicants step by step:
· Preparing strong applications
· Gathering medical and social documentation
· Coordinating with agencies and Social Security offices
· Reducing mistakes and delays that often cause denials
Why Is SOAR Effective?
SOAR-assisted applications have a much higher approval rate than those submitted without help.
Many cases are decided in significantly less time, meaning people get the benefits they need faster.
By securing income and healthcare, SOAR helps stabilize lives, reduce homelessness, and improve community outcomes.
